Happy birthday win XP

Windows XP is 10 years old. The operating system still works fine on my laptop and we still use XP at work. While I feel it's time to upgrade I can't see a pressing need, partly because browsers (think of as sub-operating systems) continue to evolve.

A framed Don Quixote - there is no grander prize!

What a beautiful thing. My flatmate, knowing of my obsession with all things Don Quixote, found and bought this picture from a charity shop to decorate my wall. Despite having finished the book only a few months ago, I am missing the character already (sometimes I question my sanity on this matter).

Michael Winslow - voice artist extraordinaire!

Remember the guy from Police Academy with the funny voices? He's still going at it, and going strong. I can't get my head around this:

And here, umm, he imitates typewriters through the ages:

Garden in autumn

Garden pentax h90, originally uploaded by Riz RMF.

We've still got a bit of sun and the bees are collecting the last of the pollen

Spelthorne/Staines telephone parking fine

I have just received a £25 cheque for a parking fine which I contested (rightly). I'd written this one off as I had already paid up and had low hopes of recovery. A good start to the weekend indeed.

Procastination

Darn it, I'm struggling to study again. After piling through loads of coursework I decided to take a week away from the books. It's been quite nice. Mid-week, I visited a gas terminal (it's my job, alright!) and harvested the rest of the carrots and leeks which I planted in the garden earlier in the year (carrots quite good, leeks held promise but are no bigger than spring onions). This weekend I popped back home to Milton Keynes, watched the rugby, and took quite a few snaps in and about the garden. Oh, I also ordered about £20 worth of DVDs, most of which include ninjas (I am regretting the purchase already).

I was supposed to be studying today but I have found many a chore to be getting on with. All it takes is a little threat of studying accountancy and all those outstanding chores suddenly find themselves at the top of the 'to do' list.

Shield bug going strong

IMGP3151 (Custom)

I popped out into the garden this cold morning to find Mrs Shield bug happily living on the same dead flower. Pretty cool.

A little shield bug

Snapped today, when I came home after work. Felt the need to update the neglected blog!
