Food glorious food

My first breakfast in a while:

I was planning to slather a piece of toast with cottage cheese and top it with a spoon of honey. At the last minute I decided to leave the toast out of the equation and boy, what a revelation. This is so nice it should be a desert. Method: Place 100g of full-fat cottage cheese (almost half a tub) in a bowl and add a desert spoon of honey. Total calories approx 150.

Taste 10/10.

My first lunch in a while:

I just had to make this. It is 'The Elvis', the great man's favourite sandwich. Exceedingly simple to make: Paste a good quantity of smooth peanut butter on a side of white bread and mash or slice a smallish banana on another slice. Press the two pieces together. Heat up a teaspoon of butter in a pan, fry one side of the sandwich. Heat another teaspoon and fry the other side.

Elvis, a 'thang you very much, a huh huh. This was damn fine, even if I could only bring myself to eating a half portion. Calories per half work out to around 260. Following Nigella's recipe and using two tablespoons of butter would have added a further 130 calories but it worked perfectly fine with two teaspoons. To go the whole hog and follow Elvis' preferred technique you would have to use a whole stick of butter, which is about half a cup, or six tablespoons ... nice.

Taste: 9.5/10 (even though I made it with cheap-ass white bread which we use as bird feed)
